Mental MisunderstandingMental Misunderstanding By Rose Ryuzaki
When you think of someone with a mental disorder you often think of someone who is mentally insane, or who is potentially or highly dangerous. Growing up as children we were often surrounded by these familiar stereotypes thanks to the media and misunderstandings from those around us. Famous movies such as Psycho, Cape Fear, and the Halloween series have all had their effects, and they've all misinterpreted what a mental disorder really is. I'm writing this article to try and clear up this misunderstanding, so that mental disorders can become more of an accepted and normal part of life, instead of a stigma.
So, what is a mental disorder? A mental disorder is a psychological disorder that effects our thoughts, actions, emotions, and behaviours. There are many types of mental disorders, such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and many more. And most of these disorders have nothing to do with
Just waking up is exhausting.
But I do it anyway. I slowly drag myself from my warm little bundle of warmth and make myself stand, wiping at my bleary eyes and trying to focus in the morning light.
I try and search for whatever there is to wear. Something warm and comfortable. I don't care what it is, as long as it does it's purpose. I can't find any socks, and my sweater is missing. I search for them. It's so exhausting.
I find the items I was searching for in the laundry. I don't recall putting them there. Maybe my mother did. I don't care though. I put said items on and then continue to get ready for another long and exhausting day.
I finally finish my morning chores and eating breakfast. Already I'm dreading ever waking up, wishing that the world would just pause and let me do the only thing I care for. But of course, it never listens.
It's so exhausting, I thought, as I put on my backpack and head out the door on a thirty-minute walk to the place they call high school.

Mello had finally finished catching up on his homework and studying for the day, so now he had nothing else to do. Bored, he decided to go to the library and to take out a book to read. When he arrived he picked out a random book from the closest shelf, and sat down onto a comfortable armchair, then began to read. It was called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. If it involved chocolate, it must be interesting. There was only one problem: he couldn't concentrate because the girls sitting at a table nearby were giggling and talking loudly. The librarian ha
Burning Memories - MattThe redhead sat in front of a burning fireplace, watching the flames burn with a dull expression.
Mello had left the orphanage of Wammys house to try and surpass L and beat Near in his own way, while Near had left shortly after to replace L. He was alone again, naturally.
In his hands he held a photo album, full of memories... people... things in his past that he cared for but had left him or died away eventually, leaving behind a bittersweet feeling in his heart.
He felt something wet slide down his cheeks and resisted the urge to wipe it away. Why didn't Mello tell him he was leaving? Why didn't the blonde take him with him? Yes, they had been fighting a lot lately but still, he would think his best friend would at least bring him along... he was wrong though, as he was left behind. Disposed of as if trash.
He rarely left his room now, as he spent most of his time locked inside, letting his newly developed depression consume him. He'd only come out now into the common room with that
Understanding - Mello + NearNear sits on the floor in the common room, playing with what was presumed to be his most favorite puzzle. It was pure white, blank, with only an old English letter L in the top left corner. He had put the puzzle together approximately 378 times, and was very close to solving it yet again. He just needed one more piece. He reached for it, but frowned when he felt nothing but the wooden floor. He lo
oked around and even lifted up the puzzle to peek underneath. There was nothing there. He paused for a few moments, before putting the puzzle down and standing up. There was no point in trying to solve a puzzle with a missing piece. So, he abandoned the puzzle and headed to his room.
Little did the albino know that Mello had taken the piece from him when he wasn't looking. He had waited for the albino to leave, before approaching the puzzle and looking down at it. It was as perfect as always, just like Near seemed to be. He looked around the room. It was just him there. All the other children
